Shipped Semen Procedures

Requests for Semen

Mare Owner should notify Stallion Manager at least 48 hours prior to desired insemination for collection and shipment of semen. Notice must be received by telephone at (410) 754-9566 on the day preceding the requested semen shipment. (If a Wednesday insemination is planned, please inform the Stallion Manager by Monday evening). Messages sent by email or fax will not be accepted for ordering semen.

Semen may be shipped 7 days per week. However, if a weekend shipment is required, the Stallion Manager must be notified by 3:00pm on the day preceding the requested semen shipment.

In the event of an emergency, requests for shipment may be made as late at 9:30 am EST the day a shipment is required. (If a Wednesday insemination is planned, we can accommodate a request as late as 9:30 am Tuesday)

Shipping

Shipping charges are the responsibility of the Mare Owner. Semen will be shipped by overnight UPS or US Mail. Additional shipping fees will apply if alternate shipping arrangements are required.

No container deposit is required, but equitainers must be immediately be returned via overnight delivery the day your Mare is last inseminated. In the event an equitainer is not promptly returned, penalty fees may apply (Please see your contract regarding penalty fees)

Collection and Shipping Fees

Mare Owner agrees to pay Stallion Fees and all Booking and Collection fees in prior to shipment of semen. The following Collection and Shipping Fees apply:

UPS, US Mail or picked up on farm	$175 per collection
Counter to Counter airline (US Airways)	$225 per collection
Counter to Counter airline (non-US Airways)	$250 per collection

Payment

All fees are payable to the Stallion Manager and may be paid by cash, check, money order or credit card (Visa, Mastercard or Discover). A 3% surcharge will be added for credit card payments.

Other Information

The Stallion Manager tries to send enough semen for two (2) inseminations in each shipment. Due to the number of mares being bred, there is the possibility that the Stallion Manager may be able to ship only enough semen for one insemination. However, it is rare that only 1 packet is shipped.

An insemination report is enclosed with each shipment and is inside and envelope taped to the outside of the equitainer. The form must be completed by the person inseminating the Mare and returned with the equitainer. Do not place the report inside the equitainer unless it is in a plastic bag.
